Workshop Description: This informative workshop will
provide insight into the recruiting industry and explain
how both young and seasoned alumni can successfully
work with recruiters and headhunters in their job search.
Join us as we hear from Ruth Cochran, Executive Recruiter
with the recruiting firm of Heidrick & Struggles, as she
explains how partnering with a recruiter in your job search
can be a great way to advance your career.
Ruth will explain the differences in retained search
recruiters, contingency recruiters, and other staffing
and search consultants. She will also talk about which
job seekers are best suited for the various kinds of recruiters.
Ruth will help you to understand whether it’s the job seeker
or the company who is responsible when fees are involved
and clear up any misconceptions that you may have about
working with a recruiter.
About Our Guest Speaker: Ruth Cochran is currently
Talent and Knowledge Manager for the Marketing and
Sales Officers practices of Heidrick & Struggles, a global
senior executive recruiting firm. From 2000 to 2007, Ruth
worked with Egon Zehnder International, another global
search firm, doing technology recruiting and research.
Earlier in her career, she worked as an Information
Manager for companies such as Kimberly-Clark
Corporation and Hewlett-Packard. Ruth also has
academic and non-profit sector experience, and has
both worked and lived in Europe and Asia. Ruth holds
two Master’s degrees from the University of California
at Berkeley.
